Eighth Month: 13 April 2004 -12 May 2004.

Aditi seems much more interested in what's going on around her this month; she's fascinated by little kids, shredding junk mail, chewing on toys... anything to give a little relief from those two bottom front emergent teeth.  We are feeding her solid food twice a day or so: blendered soybeans, acorn squash, butternut squash, sweet potato (reigning favorite), soybeans, green peas, string beans, apple and pear sauces, and rice, oat and barley cereal.   She's mastered sitting up and rolling over, and by the end of the month, likes to spend quite a bit of time on her feet, trying to stand.  I say trying, because it looks more like the rhumba than a stately pose.  By the end of the month, Aditi is about 11lbs - more than five times her birth weight.

With John DogApr. 13th: With her buddy John, who we named after our friend John in Berkeley who gave the stuffed animal to us.  She likes to gnaw the shoelaces.

napping under Margaret's blanketApr. 14th: This amazingly beautiful blanket was made by Margaret, mother of our neighbor Jeannie.  The three of us can fit under it if we snuggle.

Jack and Eileen visitApr 24th: Baths are now more fun.  Thanks to Anu's persistence we are also getting adept at knowing when Aditi needs to go to the bathroom; we can usually get her to the toilet and in position to avoid soiling a diaper.  Which makes everyone happier, but especially me, because I do the diaper laundry.

Sitting upApr 24th: Sitting up means there's a lot more to see.  And subsequently chew on.

ready to swimin the community poolApr 26th: Already it's the time of year in Tucson to cool off in the pool.  This experiment seemed to meet with approval.

up closeApr 27th: One of my favorite things to do is to watch while the parents are cooking.  I think she's getting ready to supervise (must be Anu's genes).  Anu thinks this means she'll be cooking for us in just a few years.

standing with MoosieMay 5th: Practicing the merengue with Moosie.

end of an era?May 9th: End of an era?  The laundry basket is outgrown, and the potato chip bag just couldn't take the abuse.
