Tenth Month:
13 June 2004 -12 July 2004.
Time for a little adventure. While I was in Peru most of the
month on fieldwork, Anu took Aditi to Minneapolis to beat the Tucson
heat and to get a little help from the grandparents. At the end
of June, I joined everyone in Minneapolis and we all went to Toronto
for the wedding of Anu's cousin Veenu. Predictably the baby got
passed around like a football. While she is developing a bit of
stranger anxiety, she usually warms up to new people (or old, forgotten
people like me) after a few minutes of careful observation. This
month Aditi is intensely interested in eating (or at least gnawing) on
anything we are eating, and so far, we've seen no problems with bits of
naan, samosa filling, veggie burger, ... By the end of the month, Aditi
is on the verge of crawling, and is beginning to 'cruise', holding onto
furniture and the odd hand. At this point we're not sure if
she'll crawl or walk first. She is also becoming more vocal, saying da-da
(2.7Mb aiff audio file). Here are some other sounds from the
girl: drinking
from a bottle (1.0 Mb aiff audio file), laughing
(96.4Kb aiff audio file) and of course, crying
(171Kb aiff audio file).
